Last weekend Anil visited Geneva to take part in a learning exchange organised by the Commonwealth Foundation which was attended by a number of representatives from 8 Commonwealth countries. The focus of the exchange was “accountability in health policy and service provision” and key themes of the event included gender, accountability, governance and media engagement.
Anil was the only person attending the exchange who spoke about the needs of carers. He took part in two panel discussions, one on “Law and Policy Reform” and the other on “Strengthening Civic Voice”. He also attended the Commonwealth Civic Society Policy Forum alongside Health Ministers from across the globe where he participated in discussions about Universal Health Coverage and discussed how the health needs of the most vulnerable in our societies, including carers, could be ensured.
The exchange was an excellent networking opportunity and Anil gained valuable knowledge from the experiences of other participants.
Commenting on the weekend, Anil said:
“I am grateful to the Commonwealth Foundation for this great opportunity to bring the issue of carers to a larger platform and for their continued support of our work in India.”
