First Charity Golf Day is a Tee-rific Success!

Last Friday we held our first Charity Golf Day in the stunning surroundings of Moor Park Golf Glub in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, and raised a fantastic £6,490 from the day.
We are so grateful to our trustee Jay Suterwalla for generously sponsoring our event and supporting us in making it happen.
The day started as our golfers arrived and everyone got to know each other over refreshments in the beautiful Moor Park 18th century mansion. The teams then enjoyed a (very competitive!) round of golf and we were very lucky that the rain stayed away.
After the main event, everyone enjoyed a delicious three-course meal and between courses, our Chair of Trustees, Jonathan Freeman, MBE, and our Founder and Executive Director, Anil Patil, spoke about the work of Carers Worldwide.
Jonathan shared the importance of our work and the impact we have had in the communities we work in across India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Anil talked in more detail about the work we do, how we partner with local NGOs to promote recognition of unpaid family carers, draw attention to their needs and implement our Carers Worldwide Model.
Our film, ‘Parvathi’s Journey’, which was a finalist in the 2023 Smiley Charity Film Awards, was shown. It tells the story of Parvathi, an unpaid carer from India, who we have been supporting since we began back in 2012. You can watch the video here.
After dinner, the presentations for the winning team and winning individual were made. Congratulations to Mark Pepper who won best individual player and to the winning team, ‘Sutaka Team 2’, made up of Adnan Hatimi, Winky Khandari and Salim Suterwalla.
We also held an online fundraising auction running up to the event and throughout the dinner, which raised a fantastic £1,829, and we are very grateful for all the items which were generously donated by our supporters.
Carers Worldwide Founder, Anil Patil said of the day: “All our golfers were very engaged and interested in our work, asking lots of questions about the issues unpaid carers face in South Asia and how we support them. It was fantastic to see a real desire to understand and know more about the work we do, as well as a keen interest in how to directly support us. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended on the day and helped make it such a great success, and a special mention to our trustee Jay Suterwalla, for all his support and guidance – we couldn’t have done it without him.”
