Current Projects
Our Work in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is the most recent addition to where we work. We commenced our first project there in 2018.
We’re working with Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) Bangladesh and SWID Bangladesh (Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled), supporting unpaid carers across the country.

This three year project sees us moving into a new area of Bangladesh and bringing community mental health care to that district for the first time. There is currently no community based mental health programme in the area and no support for unpaid carers, so our project is a first in this geographical area on both fronts.
Our project is working with 500 people living with mental ill health and their 500 carers. We are facilitating assessment, diagnosis and treatment for people with mental illness, as well as creating Carers Groups, running health camps for carers, training barefoot counsellors and empowering carers to advocate for their needs and the needs of their relatives living with mental health conditions.

Establishing and running seven Community Caring Centres. Each centre supports approximately 12 children with complex disabilities providing educational, therapeutic and social opportunities.
Their carers (mostly mothers) will also receive benefit through the respite provided and the opportunity to meet other carers and engage in income generating activities.
With the generous support of the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust, we are now also running a training programme for staff at all seven of our centres.
