On Friday 22nd May 2020 we took part in ‘The Global Day of Solidarity’. The purpose of the day was to recognise that COVID-19 is a global threat that needs a shared global response. Everyone, everywhere, needs to be protected from COVID-19 to ensure that no one is left behind.
Joining forces with other people and organisations all over the world, we took part in the day by encouraging our staff, trustees, partner staff, and carers in India, Nepal and Bangladesh to show solidarity with carers everywhere by taking photographs whilst holding a sign with the message “I stand with carers #StrongerTogether”.
The response we received from this request was fantastic – every single one of our 10 partners got involved, with over 70 people in total being in photographs! Over the course of the day, all the photos we received were shared on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
The Global Day of Solidarity was our first major success at bringing carers and staff from all our project areas together to celebrate a global, virtual event. We were extremely touched and proud of the enthusiasm shown by everyone who got involved.
The success of The Global Day of Solidarity has inspired us to start thinking about ways that we can bring everyone together again virtually for future celebrations. Stay tuned for announcements on our future plans…
