On Wednesday 25th May 2022, the 10th anniversary of our registration as a charitable company, we were delighted to launch our 10 Year Impact Report at a special event in The State Room at 11 Downing Street.

The independent report titled, ‘Catalysing a Global Carers’ Movement: Ten years of transformative impact with family carers in South Asia’ was written by MzN International who conducted a thorough review of our impact over the past 10 years, together with an investigation into the Social Return on Investment of the Carers Worldwide Model.

We are very proud to be able to share that the findings of the report show that for every £1 invested, our Carers Worldwide Model generates £7.79 of social and material return. For more findings from the report, please visit our report webpage where you can explore the different elements of the report and download it in full.

To help us launch the report, we were pleased to welcome supporters and funders, past and present to The State Room at 11 Downing Street. We had representatives from Andrews Charitable Trust, who funded our first consultation period in 2012 to assess the situation of carers in India and South Africa, Rangoonwala Foundation, CareTech Foundation, Hemraj Goyal Foundation, Wyn and Ken Lo Memorial Fund, British & Foreign Schools Society, Eleanor Rathbone Charitable Trust, Scott Bader Commonwealth Limited, Commonwealth Foundation, Wellcome Trust and Merck who generously funded the report as part of their Embracing Carers Initiative.

We were also delighted to share our 10 year journey with other interested parties including His Excellency Mr. Gyan Chandra Acharya, Ambassador of Nepal, and representatives from the High Commission of Bangladesh, the British Asian Trust, Carers UK, Mobilise, Plan International to name but a few. We were thrilled to be joined by Jackie Ashley who presented our BBC Radio 4 Appeal for us last November, and her husband Andrew Marr, as well as fellow broadcaster Asad Ahmad and Indian restaurant entrepreneurs Vivek Singh and Enam Ali.

The event included speeches by our Founder & Executive Director Dr Anil Patil, our Chair of Trustees Jonathan Freeman, MBE and Vanessa Buvens from MzN International who led the team writing the report.

We also screened a film made especially for our 10th anniversary year, ‘Parvathi’s Journey’ which tells the story of Parvathi, one of the very first carers we worked with, and how our work with our charity partner SAMUHA, changed her family’s life. Please do take the time to watch Parvathi’s Journey, which you can find below.

“What an incredible evening we had celebrating the impact of our first 10 years and looking forward to the next. We had such a lot of positive feedback about our work and about the impact we have had and continue to have. It was inspiring to be in a room filled with so many people passionate about our cause and interested to learn and do more to support it.”

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and helped us celebrate our 10 years. We ask you all to #CommitToCarers in any way you can and help us continue to do more to support these amazing individuals who give so much for the people they love.

And a special thank you to our friends who donated their time and skills to help us make this event perfect: Rufus for playing the piano so brilliantly, Maria at Better Than Pan for the beautiful and delicious cake and Chris for taking the photographs.
