Teeing Off with Purpose at Our Robert Lo Charity Golf Day

We recently held our second annual charity golf day at the stunning Moor Park Golf Club in Hertfordshire and are delighted to have raised an incredible £18,040 from the event.
We have this year renamed our fundraiser to the Robert Lo Charity Golf Day, after our dear friend and a long-term supporter of Carers Worldwide, Mr Robert Lo, whom we sadly lost last year. Robert was very supportive in the planning of our first charity golf day, and we are honoured to name our event after him - an enduring tribute to his generosity and to the joy he brought to the game he loved so much.
We had a glorious sunny day for the event and our golfers arrived and mingled over brunch rolls and tea and coffee in Moor Park’s beautiful 17th century mansion, before heading out onto the Championship course for 18 holes of competitive golf.

In the evening, we were joined by more guests for a delicious three-course meal and between courses, our Founder and Executive Director Anil Patil, and Development Director Ruth Patil, spoke about the work of Carers Worldwide and the impact we’ve made in South Asia.
Anil and Ruth shared examples of wide-reaching policy changes we’ve helped to make in Karnataka state, such as the introduction of a Carers Allowance, as well as the individual story of Halima, an unpaid carer from Bangladesh, and how our support – through carers groups, health camps, counselling and livelihood training - has helped give her and her family hope for the future.
“Before the carers project came, I was depressed. Since getting involved in the carers group and being able to run my own business, I feel so much better. I want to help other carers become as confident as me.”

We also heard from our Trustee Jay Suterwalla about why he supports us, and Avnish and Anita Goyal from the Goyal Foundation shared why they chose Carers Worldwide as one of their strategic partners:
“The approach of Carers Worldwide is thoughtful, holistic and dignified. They don’t offer quick fixes, they work with communities, listen to family carers and co-create sustainable, locally led solutions. That really resonated with us.”
“At the Goyal Foundation we look for changemakers – people and organisations who honour the humanity in others. Carers Worldwide is doing exactly that. They’re making carers visible. They’re turning isolation into community and they’re making sure that carers aren’t just defined by who they care for – but recognised for who they are.”

There were prizes for the first and second place individuals and the first and second place teams. Congratulations to Zachary Chegwidden who won first individual player, and to the winning team, made up of Adam Pandit, Edward Spencer, Paul Hamilton and Phil Donnison.

There was also a fundraising auction held throughout the dinner, which raised a fantastic £2,690. Thank you to everyone who placed a bid and congratulations to the winners, we hope you enjoy your prizes.
It was a brilliant day, and we are thrilled to have raised £18,040 to continue funding our work supporting unpaid family carers in South Asia. We had double the number of guests this year compared to last year and are looking forward to seeing the event continue to grow year on year.

We are so grateful to everyone who came along to support us on the day and especially to our trustee, Jay Suterwalla, for generously sponsoring our event and supporting us in making it happen.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this year’s Robert Lo Charity Golf Day and to our amazing small team for all their hard work. It was a fantastic event filled with great conversations, laughter, and shared purpose. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the golfers and dinner guests and sharing more about the vital work Carers Worldwide is doing. Your support means the world to us and to the unpaid family carers whose lives we are changing together.”
